Did some fishing this afternoon. Got two Spotteds and one :shock: Smallmouth. Got overrun by wakeboards and had to retreat. It was at Dike 8, the usual spot. Grey and white clouser seemed to be the preferred fly, tried many others with no luck. I-line, as deep as I could get it for the Spotteds, the Smallie was a gimme. I'd given up and was kicking for the take out while cursing the loud, obnoxious wakeboard boats, about 50 yards past the little tree marking the normal end of fish holding water the Smallie tried to yank the rod out of my hands. Gave me the whole bag of tricks, head shaking, tailwalking, coming close then taking off again, almost tangled on my fins when he cut beneath. I'm finding it pretty surprising what a 5wt can take. Lake level is up about 5 feet since the last time I was there, a guy in the lot said most of that happened within the last week. Nothing around the flooded trees though, when does that happen? Oh yeah, carp are spawning, seeing them everywhere.
