Fished Kelsey Ranch this past Thurs. and Friday with five other friends. Three of the group had fished the lake about three weeks earlier and reported that the lake was now at a higher level. The water level looked pretty close to what it was last year at this time. The water temp. was in the mid to high 70's. We chose to fish top water exclusively and did very well. Our best pattern was the Whitlock swimming frog. They seemed to like a smaller bug over the large pike pattern that I started with. Others in the group fished below the surface and also had a good outing. The bass are in the post spawn mode and are long and slinder. We did land a few that still had a little belly left and may still have the urge to do the spawn dance. All and all, it was a good trip. The charge to fish the lake is $75 per day.
