Water temperatures have climbed to 67-68 and the bass have responded accordingly. Fish willingly took poppers all afternoon. I stopped counting after a dozen. Most fish were between 1.5 and 2.5 pounds. While the afternoon's wind from the west was pretty strong, blowing over 10mph, it's fairly easy to fish by tucking behind the lee of the levees and fishing with about 30 feet of line.
May should be a good month to fish before the fish go into their summer funk and shut down during the mid-day hours.
LMB fishing should be very good to fantastic from now until November.
