Well I got my new camera and took it out to our local marsh .
when I returned home and looked at the photos they had a grey smudge or circle in the bottom center of the photos. So I removed the lens and sure enough I had a small peace of dust on the sensor. I was hoping that I would not have to clean it right off the bat. My camera was refurbished and factory sealed from canon. I guess I could have got some dust on the sensor the minute I put the lens on. I was able to find a web site that showed step by step how to clean the sensor in my canon 20D. After cleaning it 4-5 times I FINALY have a clean sensor again. :D What a PAIN !! You can see the spot in the bottom middle of this photo to the right of the moons reflection . I was able to get a few good shots on the way home that did not show the dust spot because of the dark foreground !!! :D :D I definitely need a new lens ASAP because the kit lens is a peace of JUNK and is impossible to get a sharp photo and is driving me crazy !!  :? But I new the kit lens was junk but just didn't have the $$ right now for a good lens.

Rob,

You should have gotten a Nikon! Just kidding...

Which sensor cleaning kit did you get? I am in need of one for my cameras as well.

BTW, I like the last shot the best. What building is it?

Bill

This is the method that i used to clean my sensor .

http://www.tribcsp.com/~sigma2/SensorDust01.html

The building is the LDS Logan Utah Temple in Cache Valley built in 1877.

Next time i take some photos I will remember to bring a tripod.
I had to set the camera on the ground and use the self timer and guess at the angle. The only thing I did in photoshop was to sharpen the photos like CRAZY. The 18-55mm Kit lens is a joke. I have tried close ups and they are a little fuzzy. The night photos turned out better.

I did a lot of research on the 20d camera so i know its potential but I just need some better glass in front. Andy uses a Canon 20D also and I am very impressed with the quality of his photos. :) Have you seen the one of Kieth in his drift boat on the Yuba River ?? VERY nice !!! :D
I hope to get a canon 17-40mm L Lens per Andy's recommendation. :D

Rob, that L series lens would be very nice, great wide angle shots. I have taken a few pictures with a 20D and an L series lens, what a difference a lens makes. If there is any area of photography to drop some money it's in the lenses, although you already knew that, I'm just agreeing.

That's for sure !!

Good lenses cost big BUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to get into wildlife photography but some of those darn Tele lenses cost more than my (Used) 1985 Toyota 4x4 pu.

Thanks JT

The Logan Temple is a very beautiful and awesome building !! \

The photo does not do the building justice because of the angle and poor lens quality. Just just ordered a new 50mm lens . It's cheap but has great reviews except it's all plastic and the AF is very noisy. But I need something that will take a clear photo asap. Otherwise I will letmy camera sit until i could afford a good lens. I just can't stand photos out of focus. I hope canon is using better lenses on the newer cameras and not the Bad kit lens like in the past.

Love that Eagle shot Rob. Set as a new background on my computer. I'm kind of a sucker for the Raptors. Bald Eagle sightings have halted both hunting and fishing trips in the past, and I believe they always will. Ed

Those Bald eagles sure are beautiful !!
Usually see 4-5 a year on the Yuba , during or just after the Salmon run.
Golden Eagle are even bigger . We see a few of both here in the valley. I never get tired of seeing them.
