Later today you might try some caddis imitations in any Valley river/stream for resident trout and smaller Halfpounder Steelhead.
Most all bass ponds, lakes and larger reservoirs are good for bass....now. This evening should be 'killer' on top.
Shad are at the mouth of the American River and mouth of the Feather Rivers. You need to be in a double anchored boat. They will be up river soon (mid-May) so we can go wade for them on weeknights after work.
Stripers are pouring through from below Sacramento headed up to around Colusa to spawn now by the thousands on the Sacramento River. There are some in the lower Feather and lower American Rivers too.
We joke about it in the tackle business because we have people streaming in all day long going somewhere in May. In a fly shop in May in Nor Cal you have to toss a coin to decide where to fish ourselves because there are so many good choices.
Get out somewhere this evening if only for an hour or so.
