Over the years I have come to realize that May is the big deal averagely for warm water fisheries in the Spring.

April can be off and on with the changing weather. If you get three days of warm weather it can be very good.

June is good but sometimes it can get up over 100 degrees and the mid-afternoon can get tough.

For those who are going to be able to get out but a few times this spring I like to advise them to go in May. In May you can almost fish daylight till dark with good results.

For "commandos" like Ed and David who will be out weekly it is not that critical if they go early and hit an off day.

Top warm water guide Kevin Doran told me that may was his pick for a top month for top water bass. I think he guides April through October for warm water species.

KD will be at our Expo this weekend too.

Ed, David and I will have to set up some dates for bass outings in May.

Maybe one to Cameron Park and one to the Delta.
