Bamboo rod advice

O.k. you guys will probably hate me for this but here goes. As a Ranger we have special events at the parks and we do a little extra from now and again to make sure the guests are happy. This time I helped out a little extra and was gifted an old bamboo rod as a thank you. The guy said he never used it and heard I loved fly fishing.

Two questions.

1. Ever heard of a Edwards Bristol F3 8 1/2 3 piece. Does it mean 3 wt?

2. It seems to be in good shape do I need to do anything to the bamboo if it has been sitting around for years.

Thanks Paul will do..Don't think this rod needs help but an old one my grampa gave me does so I will P.M. you when I find out more about both....Craig.
