Where else ?

Hit the water by 9 am Friday with Dan and WilliGeorge. Morning action was all subsurface with damsel fly nymphs and rubber legged nymphs working well. Freaking gorgeous day with high temp around 78 F.

By 11 AM we had caught many like this and were starting to lose count. This one smacked a skinny olive damsel/wolly bugger.

Around noon we started picking them up on top. Gurglers worked great all afternoon.

Dan off in the distance working the weed line.

Yeah, we fished until our arms and thumbs could take no more. BusyGeorge with a nice twilight largemouth. Deer Hair poppers worked great at dusk.

I highly recommend all potential bass fanatics to get over to the ranch soon, it is worth the $75. Go to the web and search for "Kelsy Bass Ranch" or "ExcellentAdventures.org".

Later Dudes.

That is a popular spot yearly for little groups of fly fishers.

Old Joe Shirshac and friends usually make a yearly trip down there.

Terry Thomas and friends have an annual Kelsey two day trip too.

April and May should be unreal.

I've been fishing Kelsey at least once a week. You ought to see some of the video footage that we will soon be putting together. I'm heading there this week in hopes of getting some top water explosive action on film.

GRAND pics! Saw a LM try to grab one of those big black birds from that dead tree mid-lake by a foot one time. What a commotion THAT was.

Here's a couple fly fishing bloopers I had last week when fishing with Ken and Al.

First one, is rated fair to OK:

Fishing the tree cove area and made what I thought was a pretty good cast through a "Y" in one of the trees. I figured this is going to be a good test for the weed guard. About the fourth strip, BAM - FISH ON...
Now what do I do, I got this fish running to the weeds and my line still stuck in the "Y". How do you land the fish.... Motor to the tree, tie off and hand line him in from the other side.

Blooper #2:

The best one of the two....... I had been watching a decent size LMB chasing some bait fish next to a tree that just had the top showing. I dropped my anchor to change flies and didn't want to drift too far away from the action. As I sat there going though my box full of flies, this fish kept making me nervous by busting the water.
Ahhhh yeah, I had picked the perfect fly. Proceeded to tie on the fly using a non-slip loop knot. Trimmed the tag end off and threw the fly to the side and in the water. Cranked out about a 65' cast right too where the fish was busting. Starting retriving the line but didn't see any or hear any fly commotion. So I quickly retrieved the line back in to find out the fly was gone. Damn, did I snap off 15lb test mono. Just then an explosion next to the pram. Holy Crap, my fly came floating back to the surface. Seems that I cut the wrong "tag end" and must of threw the fly to the side and thought I'd (don't really know what I was thinking) especially after the bass took the fly and spit it back out

The moral of the story ????????????

Sounds like a successful test to me. The Bass took the fly. :D :D I've accidentally cut the main part of the leader many times now that I seem to have the arms length syndrome. :? :? It usually happens to me when the fish are bustin' all over the top and I've got Buck fever. Almost like watching the Keystone Cops.
