Try looking at:

www.zenflyfishing.com
(On this website, in addition to the other info, there's a link to a photo survey of the California coastline that should allow you to view all of Monterey Bay)

The next two sites are fly shops in the local area.

www.ernies.com

www.centralcoastflyfishing.com

or look up the website for mrnoodlerod (a member of this BB community. He has his own website linked thru the member list. I believe he lives in the Santa Clara Valley area and is familiar with Monterey Bay.

Good luck :D :D :D :D :D

Where are you staying in Monterey? Will you have transportation?
If in Monterey, I would try fishing around the hotel on the beach, which is on the Seaside/Monterey city limit line. If you have transportation, I would head towards SC and fish the beaches of Palm Beach, Sunset Beach, Manressa Beach.
Check out a tide book or go to a reliable website to see the tides. But then, your limited to the time your there so don't worry about the tides.

If you fish the beaches on the Seaside side, becareful of the shore breaks, they can knock you down.

I would call Ernie's Casting Pond (831) 462-4665 and find out what's happening.

Good luck

Jay & Darian pointed out some great info & locations for fishing the surf in the Monterey Bay area. Lars Johannesson has a site that's generally dedicated to fishing in the Santa Cruz & Monterey Bay area (http://fishingboard.gruk.net/index.php) - you can search the site's discussion forum for the latest reports from the beaches in the area.

You can also check the marine forecasts to get a general idea of the weather & surf conditions in Monterey Bay several days in advance before you go: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mtr/getcwfzone.php?sid=MTR&zone=PZ535.

Good luck & be safe out there! 8)
