Folsom Lake 3/16

My dad and i hit Folsom today and managed a few nice bass. the water was quite low compared to last year,
so there wasn't much structure accessible.

Both of these were caught on a charteuse/white clouser on the pause.

I hear April/May can be excellent at Folsom Lake for bass.

This will probably be a great Spring there.

Those are beautifully marked fish.

I heard that the LA Spotted Bass have taken over in Shasta Lake?

I use to be mostly Smallies and some LMB up there years ago.

Is this true in Folsome Lake too?

I thought that they were spots, but I haven't seen or caught enough to know for sure, they sure look cool AND their bellies are nice and fat!

Yes , more or less .

Spotted Bass can spawn much deeper than Smallmouth/Largemouth , so the population is waaaaaay up . It's been years since I've caught a Largemouth out of Folsom (though they are there) .

I caught this big largemouth two years ago about this time of year, but it has been the only one.
