Well Bruce and I did well to cancel our trip to Tilamook to fish with Scott O - Wilson went from under 3000 cfs to near 600 cfs overnight.

I had planned to drive up with Bruce on Sat but decided to drive instead up to the South Fork for a try - river still a bit high but in good shape above Garberville - I managed to hook a bright female around 7 to 8 #'s that just smoked me - slammed the fly and went an easy 40 yards into my backing!

Only grab of the day but a memorable one!

Nice report Rick. Glad you were able to get a fly in the water. I might just have to make my way up there sometime this week!

Rick,
Did you do a float on the SF or some wade fishing? I am heading North later this week to fish the last two weeks of the season on the Southern Oregon coast and am considering heading by the SF for a couple days on the way up. Were you able to speak to other fisherman to get a feel for how many fish are around? Thanks for any input you may have and glad you got to fish a little, though a cancelled trip is always tough to swallow. Thanks, ST

ST and Jason - just wading - there is pretty good access along the SF and main stem - did not see any other fishermen where I was though there were a number of boats doing floats in other sections of the river -so did not get any other reports.

Though it was a bummer to miss out on our trip with Scott, Bruce and I are looking to make up for that - we both signed up for the Nicolas Dean Lodge that Keith was advertising where a group canceled for the week of April 16 22 :)

Good thing you didn't go. The rivers up north are completely gonzo right now. Glad you had a good trip over there on the Eel.
