Freakin' COLD water !!

Ed and I got 0 hits , 0 fish landed . Met up w/ 'Stacker and Darian for lunch , had food/chat . Left , trying to warm up .

Never saw Dave46 or Cristine , I think the feral Cat out there enjoyed their Steak Sandwichs :D

I line sank too fast ...... a floater would have been better . Then again , seeing some fish would have been nice , as well .

That's it !!

David :P

Our Delta bass outing in July was insanely hot and now our trout outing in February was crazy cold.

We will have to plan some for April/May/June.

Well, I fished for about 3 hours out of the inflatable kayak for only 1 hit and no hook-ups before meeting up with the fellas around noon-time. I did definitely see 1 trout (1 of apparently 3 that live in that lake) take something at the surface when I first started fishing but saw absolutely no signs of any more the rest of the day. The weather was actually pretty nice and sunny and mild, but the water was really cold:

After meeting up and BSing for a while, David Lee proceeded to treat us to savage-sized portions of steak meat he grilled then sandwiched in home-made garlic bread he toasted to perfection on the spot. Man they were good and so was the beer we washed them down with. Here he is doing the honors at the grill -- note the very proper Scottish tweed fishing/cooking pants:

Here's a shot of Darian, David Lee and Ed Wahl during a pause in our afternoon BS session:

All in all it was a fun day. These guys crack me up, and it's always fun when you can spend time gabbing with 'em. A LOT of fishing knowledge, experience, and tales in those 3 heads. I ended up thinking, what the heck, if THOSE fellas didn't catch any, then I don't feel so bad I didn't catch any either.

Glad the food hit the spot Mike .

Several things to add here .....

LOADS of people fishing out there . At one point , Ed and I saw something like 16 people fishing the bay at the end of the pond  .

The lake looked sterile . Weeds everywhere , but no fish of any kind to be seen . Strange to think that in 2 or 3 months .... you won't be able to find a spot out there WITHOUT fish in it !! Seco is the ONLY place I've ever fished that made me feel as if I was floating in an Aquarium !! Insane numbers of Bass/Sunnies in there .....

Sometimes ..... fishin' AIN'T about fishin' - We might have been able to scratch-up a fish after lunch , but for me , the company was just too good . There's very little I wouldn't do to hang w/ those three people .

The only 'rough' part was the total lack of mercy about my chosen 2nd
insulating layer - Black/Brown plaid fleece pajama bottoms .

You would have thought I was wearing panty-hose .... the way them dudes were raving ......

We'll try again when the water warms a bit .

David :D

Any similarity is purely coincidental?

Hey Guys,

Sounds like you all had a grand time fishing if not actually "catching". That is pretty much what Dana and I did up on the Lower Sac. the same day. Three of us fished most of the day, had one hookup and missed a few other strikes.

Like you all we ate good as well and had a really good time anyway. Hopefully with some warmer weather the "catching" will start to pick up!

Bill

Dave46 and Christine were there. We left around 1130 due to the hypothermia on our legs. We were the two in the float tubes fishing around the bank on the far side from where we put in. I think you guys were parked right in front of us. I recognized the truck from the photos.

Our report:
0 fish caught
0 fish biting
2 fish seen slurping the surface. Not sure what they may have been feeding on.

Overall, it was a fun time. Wish we could have stayed longer but could not take the cold water any more. Glad you enjoyed lunch.

...nothing wrong with wearing fleece PJs with waders David :D They're "fashionable" and soft against the skin! I'm fond of my navy blue and black checked 'jammies!

Later...

Hey Thom,.... I'm sure David's jammies had feet in 'em but he kept his wading shoes on the whole time so we couldn't see 'em.  (probably had a trap door in the back too   )

Darian...You go back to the "trapped door" era  I used to wear 'em too  BEFORE cotton was introduced
