I made it out to the Consumnes River Preserve today and found one willing egret.

Spectacular........................

DDT was banned in the US in 1973 and sense then the bird populations have really recovered.

We are so lucky to have birds in places where we fly fishing.

Very nice pics!

They are fine fishermen in their own right... or else. A matter of survival for them.

Not easy to get close to them guys. What mm lens did it the job?

Great pictures, I like the one in color as well. As Ron noted, a very difficult-to-approach bird, which is what I think makes these very clear images special. 8)

I lived down the road in Thornton which back then the bridge was closed so our street didn't get much traffic. I used to ride my bike or walk down onto the preserve. It's a really cool place first thing in the morning on a foggy day.
