I am planning a trip to Trinity Lake in the early spring for smallmouth. I plan to center my activity in the Trinity Center area and would appreciate any experiences and info you can provide on clean inexpensive lodging, launch ramps, restaurants, etc.

Thanks for the help,

Tim

I have fished around there but never on the lake itself. I have talked with people who have fished the lake for Smallmouth. I have heard they get the big ones in February but I would go In April/may myself to fly fish for them. The person I talked with uses a pontoon boat and a clear full sinking line. I would use 9'-9'6" #6, 7 or 8 weight rod.

I have heard there are some rock islands or rock piles out in the water up near the east end (far end) of the lake that are good areas.

I would use some big leechy/buggery things in black, brown and olive.

I think the main thing is to just be there in the Spring and maybe the Fall too.

I would call or email the Trinity Fly Shop in Lewiston and talk with shop owners Herb and Pat Burton.
