The stinger is probably a good idea. I've fished the worm patterns before in clear water and got to watch what happens. The bass will come up behind the worm and just inhale the worm and the surrounding water. With the bass' forward motion and the inhale there is no tell tale twitch on the leader. If you don't actually see the take you'll probably never know it happened. When they spit it out it's still in the same surrounding water. That stinger just might hang up on a lip on the way out. That is one nasty bug Mike, good job. Ed

That is the reason I added the stinger. The last time I fished one of these w/o a stinger I missed the only good fish of the outing. It took the tail several times before I coaxed it to hit the head where the hook was. I set up too hard on that fish and broke him off on the strike.. This time I will stick that dude when he nibbles on the tail. ;-)
