This little guy didn't seen to mind my presence too much. He was only a few feet away, while I was fishing at Don Pedro.

I believe it is an American Dipper.

I have watched them slip under the water and come back up with something in it's beak on trout streams here in Nor Cal.

You called it Jay. Checked the bird book( always have one handy). Dippers are charcoal grey, John Muirs favorite bird. Trout streams would be pretty lonely indeed without them. Ed

Love the "rock" wren tie in. However, rock wrens tend to have a grayish tint and more slinder. I would i.d. the bird as a house wren.
